Dear families, children, teaching team and governors,
A massive welcome back to what is possibly the children’s favourite term! I have just promised the children in assembly that if they work incredibly hard this term, (even more than usual!) then we will make this term a great one for them. We have lots of fun things planned, which I know that they will love. We endeavour each day to make the learning fun and provide a creative curriculum which is both broad and balanced.
Next Week is Anti Bullying Week across the entire country and the theme is ‘All different. All equal.’ As a school we wholeheartedly support and advocate this theme as we truly celebrate and embrace our differences, whilst teaching tolerance and respect for all. The whole school will be looking at a great book called ‘ My little book of big freedoms’ and we will be discussing each day next week, what it means to be different, yet equal. Our whole school theme this year from our TRUST values is UNITY, so the Anti-Bullying theme fits in brilliantly with our overarching focus. As part of the week, the children will be working with a composer to write their own anti- bullying song next Friday 17th November, hence us asking for ALL children to have a packed lunch this day so that he can set up his recording studio in the hall!
As we head towards Christmas, can I please beg you to use Easyfundraising to do any online shopping. It’s free money for the school. https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/ Once you have set us up as your chosen fundraising cause, it is simple to use every time for Amazon, Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser, Currys and many holiday companies! Please take 5 minutes to have a look and find us!
Premier Sports Clubs this term start on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th November. Dodgeball (Year 1 – 4) on Wednesdays and Hockey on Thursdays (Year 3 – 6) £25 for 5 weeks!
Book online at https://www.premier-education.com/schools/extra-curricular Our postcode is DA12 3BN. The website looks different than before as it has been revitalised. But look for the extra curricular tab and book a ‘course.’
I will start my begging emails fairly soon in regards to the Christmas Fayre which is a date definitely for the diary! Friday 8th December 2.30pm – 5pm! We will be requesting unwanted but clean/washed teddies, contributions to the class hampers that make up the terrific adult raffle prizes and of course any unwanted gifts that you may have lurking around that could be donated to the gift stall where children buy and wrap a present for you! Apologies in advance for those of you who end up with something that you have kindly donated. Nearer the time we ask for contributions to the bottle tombola stall and cake stall too!
Dates for the future!
Due to the size of the hall and the logistical nightmare of getting things ready, there are several dates this term, where we asking for the children to be provided with a PACKED LUNCH as it makes life easier for events to go ahead and for the children to have optimum time in workshops and pantos etc. We will remind you as we progress through the term and apologies in advance for the additional sandwich making required!
