Term 6 Newsletter – Welcome back to you all!

welcome back cobham primary newsletter

Welcome back to Term 6! How on earth did we get here so fast? Means I am getting old when time flies so quickly. I hope you all have had a great week! I know that my Year 6 class had a wonderful time at Kingswood prior to half term! A massive thank you to Mrs Resoda, Miss Smith and Mrs O’ Neill; all of whom made the trip truly special for the class! This term is jam packed with great opportunities for learning and lots of enrichment activities too! Please add the dates to the diary below so that you can keep up with it all! Not sure I will!

Theme for the Term- Strength

The children sat and listened incredibly well in assembly and hopefully understood that our theme for this term is Strength-both physical and mental! With all the events planned below, we will need both of these aspects of strength to simply get through the term! Ask the children about the videos I used of Mo Farrah, both of which clearly demonstrated the power of mental strength, over physical!

A departure

It is with such sadness that I inform you that Mrs Heap will be leaving Cobham after 11 years to relocate to Dubai with her family. We have ‘grown up’ together at Cobham (I use that term loosely as neither of us feel very grown up!) and she has been such a great role model to so many, an outstanding teacher year on year and a dear, dear friend to so many. We will miss Michelle more than she realises, but very much wish her and her family the very best for the future. I am sure that together we will make sure that she has a wonderful last term at Cobham.

An arrival

In life, sadness is often swiftly followed by delight and I am thrilled to announce that Mrs Joshua is extending her family. She already has a gorgeous little boy and now will be giving him a sibling! We are truly pleased for you Emily as you are a wonderful lady and a great mummy. Congratulations to you and Mr Joshua!

Packed lunches!

Please can we aim for healthy packed lunches please as school dinners are now very healthy too! Some children’s lunches are becoming unhealthy and children will be asked to not eat certain items if they have too many unhealthy options. You will see them returned in their lunch boxes. Some of our younger children are trying to eat first their ‘goodies’ over their sandwiches and fruit!

Please be advised that we will be sharing with you information soon, whether you wish to have it or not, on how we use any personal information that we may have on you and your child.

We currently have overall high levels of attendance, so a massive thank you. However we are under great pressure to fine families who take their children on holiday during term time when they have lower than national average attendance figures. From September, we will be putting in place Penalty Notices for any child that has 5 days holiday with an attendance figure of 96% or below. The figure will be based on a whole year’s attendance from the date of request.

Ice Poles

Ice Poles will be available to buy most morning playtimes at the cost of 20pence starting Wednesday 6th June. This is to not only help to keep the children hydrated during the warmer weather, but is also a fundraiser for the Year 6 Leaver’s Party. If you would like your child to purchase an ice pole. Please provide them with 20 pence! The correct money would be very much appreciated!
