Summer Newsletter 2021 – Welcome Back!

welcome back cobham primary newsletter

Welcome back to hopefully 2 amazing summer terms! I hope everyone had a fantastic break and that everyone managed to enjoy some of the brighter days! It was certainly not bad dog walking weather!

This week is BOOK WEEK at Cobham! Don’t panic – no Cobham World Book Day that requires any dressing up! Mrs Resoda has planned a great week for all the classes to participate in using a beautiful book! The Joy in You by Rosie Butcher. The children will love the book and it will certainly make them feel good about themselves, their achievements and their own talents! A great way to start the term.

Our after school clubs led by the teachers start this week and you would already know if your child has been invited this term. Days and timings are different so please do check!

We also have Dance for Year 1 (Tuesdays) and Kick Boxing (Mondays) for Year 5 starting this week too. We hope to add a few more opportunities next term for other classes, as well as start breakfast club once again in term 6!

Parent Information Meetings are scheduled for next week (via Zoom) so please do book your appointment to speak with your child’s teacher. The team will be able to discuss your child’s progress as well as their general well-being. I hope these meetings prove useful as well as reassuring of how well the children are all doing. I am meeting with all teachers this week to discuss every individual child’s progress. These meetings help us to identify where additional support may be required.

We have two governor positions to fill this term (1 requires a parent election and the other is a co-opted position)  – further details will follow this week. But if you are interested, then do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss the role and levels of commitment expected/required. Our governing body are a formidable team and hold the team and myself to account in all aspects of school life and school improvement.

We continue to do our best to keep everyone safe and sound at Cobham. Our routines and procedures will not be ‘relaxed’ in any way until the end of the summer at the very earliest. The world may be getting back to a new normal, but we wish to remain as we are until we know what this recent ‘relaxing’ means for us all.

Please help us to play your part.

Many thanks,

Jacqui Saunders
