School Closed Thursday 1st March
Met Office forecast does say more snow is due between the hours of 8am and 1pm tomorrow. The road outside school is currently clear but I know that many roads in to Cobham are still dangerous.
My entire responsibility as Head is about providing the highest quality of teaching and learning experiences for our children, as well as ensuring at all times the well being and safety of our children. I honestly cannot do this until the site is clear, checked carefully, temperatures increase and with at least the prospect of a near full complement of my teaching team. So after much deliberation school is closed tomorrow.
Forecast on Friday is for more heavy snow around collection time, so if indeed we do clear the site tomorrow, we may well be covered in fresh snow anyway! Your journeys to and from school could be difficult. However I cannot decide about Friday until tomorrow evening. As said earlier, if I can make it to school tomorrow, we can clear and check the site no doubt, ready for more snow fall! Good exercise if nothing else.
I hope you understand my decision. Unique weather! Please be safe, enjoy the snow if possible and let’s hope the situation improves.
All those lovely people who have offered to come to school and help to clear today – we may call upon your ‘man’ or ‘woman’ power tomorrow! We will text.
I will continue to keep you well – informed, so please do keep checking your emails.
