Last Day of 2021/22

Dearest Cobham Families,

What a day! It is a strange one – full of so many mixed emotions – sadness at it being our Year 6’s last day and yet euphoria at making it through our first year in school – in its entirety – for a while.  The children are tired (especially if they attended the disco last night!) A huge thank you to my team members who supported the discos and to our very own DJ Burns. I don’t know how he has the energy as I am certainly feeling a little broken today after all that dancing! We are exhausted!

Another very emotional Year 6 trophy assembly this morning! I know the team found it incredibly hard to choose the recipients of the awards today – as there are so many wonderful children in the class -all of whom are deserving of an award.  But they have had the very best last few days and I know their leavers’ party will be one to remember. The leavers’ assembly is always a wonderful end to the year – but it is always tinged with tears. It will be a sad afternoon. The class of 2022 have always been amazing. They are a great bunch of kids! They will without doubt make the world a better place – they know better than any other class, that I only wish for them ‘to be the best that they can be’ and ‘to always be kind.’ If we all aim for that – then that has to be good enough!

Writing of the ‘best that they can be……….’ The team at Cobham are the VERY best. Without a shadow of a doubt! They give their best each and every day for the benefit of the children and this year, they have been exceptional in so many ways. We have continued to have developed our teaching and learning in so many areas and the team have dealt with much change this year! We always wish to move forwards and always wish to do better. However the thing I am most proud of is the ‘care’ and ‘love’ that they give every child! I cannot thank them enough. They deserve the very best holiday, as do you – our families and our children.

We say good bye today to Mrs Turner and Miss Moore – both are moving to new schools in different roles. I truly feel blessed that they came to Cobham when I needed them most. We wish them all the love and luck as they start their new adventures- please do keep in touch.

Our Mrs Rose – is off to add to her wonderful family. We wish her, her husband and her daughter Ella- all the love in the world as they await their bubba number 2 – a sister for Ella. Seems just right and perfect Sarah. Much love to you from us all.

My last words are really for you  – our families – funnily enough many of you recently have asked me how long I have been at Cobham. Too long is probably the honest answer- but this school is truly special. It and the children capture one’s heart! Year on year I think it’s time to move on, but I simply love it here! Partly because together as a partnership, you – our families and the team are truly formidable in giving our children the very best start! I cannot thank you enough!

A friend sent me this quote today on teaching! ‘The job seems to require the sort of skills one would need to pilot a bus full of live chickens backwards, with no brakes, down a rocky road through the Andes while simultaneously providing colourful and informative commentary on the scenery!’  It made me smile! I hope you think the bus is in safe hands! But the bus is going to have rest for a bit!

Much love to you all! School is nearly out!
